Planetarium Negara
The national planetarium is a fun place to spend an educational afternoon. You’ll learn more about the Universe, the galaxy, the solar system, and our own planet Earth. The planetarium has many interesting features, such as “Mystery of Maya” and “Legend of the Night Sky,” and is a great way to learn more about the spaces around us. Outside the main theatre, Planetarium Negara also has some great ‘space travel’ displays for your budding young astronauts. Atop a hill near Jalan Perdana, it’s a blend of high technology and traditional Islamic architecture.

National Museum
The National Museum (Muzium Negara) is the best place to learn about Malaysia. If you haven’t been, plan a trip soon. The Cultural exhibits include displays of Shadow Play, local costumes, and ritual ceremonies. The Natural History section has many flora and fauna exhibits, including what is believed the largest crocodile ever caught. The Ceramics section has many Malay, Islamic, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, and Khmer items on display. The Weaponry Gallery includes Malaysia ’s Museums & Art Galleries exhibits from the early Bronze Age to today’s modern weapons, including the ‘Keris Majapahit’ made of meteoric ore. The Music displays include Pribumi instruments, as well as traditional Malay, Indian, Chinese and Thai instruments. Opened 31 August 1963, the National Museum remains the definitive authority of Malaysia’s natural and human history.

National History Museum
The National History Museum (Muzium Sejarah Nasional) houses many artefacts that showcase the human history of Malaysia. A walk through the Museum’s exhibits will enhance any expat’s understanding of Malaysia and its fascinating culture.

Bank Negara Money Museum
The Money Museum serves as a repository for Malaysia’s numismatic heritage. With over 2000 permanent exhibits of coins, banknotes, and other monetary items from various ages, the Money Museum will enrich your understanding of money. Among the fascinating displays, you’ll find tin ingots shaped as tortoise shells, cowrie shells, miniature brass cannons, brass kettles, and beads of glass, cornelian, and onyx – all once used as currency in Malaysia. The Money Museum also has rare examples of Straits Settlements notes and interesting displays of Malaysia’s current ringgit notes.

P. Ramlee Memorial
Dubbed the ‘Great Artiste,’ P. Ramlee is synonymous with the Malay music and film industries, whose movies and songs live on in the hearts of thousands of his fans. In recognition of his immense artistic contribution to the nation, the National Archives of Malaysia established this memorial in the house where P. Ramlee last lived. Displays include materials about P. Ramlee’s family background, his involvement with education, his roles as singer, composer, actor, and director, and a tribute by local artists.

National Science Centre
The National Science Centre is roofed by a geodesic dome, and has two levels of interactive science exhibitions, featuring the Children’s Exploration Centre on Level One and galleries on Level Two for teenagers and adults. There are also holiday activities, such as the
‘Sci-Nature Quest.’ Give your children an up-close and personal look at the wonderful world of science.

National Library
With architecture made to resemble a ‘tengkolok’ (traditional Malaysian headgear), the National Library is a vast repository of publications about Malaysia, works by Malaysian authors, and ancient Malay manuscripts.

National Art Gallery
Established 28 August 1958 under the initiative of Tunku Abdul Rahman, the National Art Gallery has grown from a donation of 4 artworks to a collection of more than 2,500. The Gallery houses exhibitions for local Malaysian and international artists.

Jadi Batek Centre
Established in 1976. It is one of the largest private batik and handicraft centre in Kuala Lumpur. They stock one of Malaysia's finest collection of breathtaking batik, superior pewterware, silverware and an irresistible range of modern and classic handicrafts.
They also have batik workshop at their centre with 5 full time artists for actual production, demonstration and guest participation.

Galeria Sri Perdana
Official residence of Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, fourth Prime Minister of Malaysia, from 23 August 1983 to 18 October 1999. The original designs of the building have been preserved, with exhibits that characterise the former PM.

Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia

Museum of Asian Art
The University Malaya’s Museum of Asian Art (Muzium Seni Asia) is an explorative journey through Asia’s cultural landscape. The galleries include items that define 4000 years of Asian antiquity, including: Malaysian basketry, textiles, and carvings; Indian stone sculptures from the early Sathavahana period; Persian and West Asia ceramics, such as blue and white porcelain from the Kashan period; Southeast Asia items such as Khmer pottery, Thai ceramics, and a comprehensive collection of ‘keris’ (daggers) from the Malay world; Chinese artefacts like T’zu Chou stoneware; and Japanese ceramics from the early Karatsu tradition and the Imari period. With a collection built up over a half century, the Museum of Asian Art is well equipped to enhance your knowledge of the Asian world.
